Hutchnden House on Golden Pond

"It's certainly not your average B & B; it's really not even a B & B because Bernice and David Fraser ('Bunny' and 'Bear' ) also serve the most wonderful of lunches ($7.50) and dinners ($12.50) to their guests -- and then sit down and enjoy it with them. It's sort of like a small inn, with perhaps you and yours being the only guests.

"To me it's like coming home. You'll find your hosts to be truly warm and caring people, and their home an informal, happy place to relax in. B and B are as multi-faceted as their home -- which has 16 sides! Reading through their Guests' Comments, the description that kept repeating itself was 'wonderful.'

"Hutchnden House is a great find -- once you've found it.. It's miles from everywhere, but close to everything really important to a lover of nature or quietude: multitudes of birds at the nearby feeders; woodland paths winding through the spruce and cedar forest; a huge multi-level beaver pond complete with a ten-foot-tall dam; the Big Dipper high overhead -- and perhaps a view of the Northern Lights.

About "Golden Pond"

They named it after the autumn reflection of the golden Tamarack tree needles .
" The Guests' rooms are on the lower level (if you have trouble with stairs, ride up and down on Bun's stair lift; do it even if you don't!). About 10 yards from your room's sliding door is a good-sized pond, complete with a forested island. It's for swimming, with a catch. The catch is Rainbow Trout! If you want to fish, you're virtually guaranteed a catch.

And...............

Last summer, one man floated around the pond in a truck-sized innertube, fly-casting, and slowly propelling himself by flippers. (He had no strikes then, but caught 7 early the next morning, again by fly.

Children have good luck fishing, says David, because they have patience. One junior fisherman suddenly burst into tears: He had been standing by the shore, fishing with a pole, a line, a bobber, and a baited hook. "What's wrong?", asked his concerned father. "My bobber's gone!" he wept....
"If you're like me, it's the people you meet on your travels who create happy memories, much more so than the beauty of the scenery. That's why those who come to Hutchnden House will remember their hours there as precious ones."

PS The larger of the two bedrooms has a VCR, a king-size bed, and a Japanese-style hot tub!
B & B must have hundreds of movies on tape, and they enjoy sharing the evening with their guests.
